So far on my portfolio, I have added my best work from grade 8 up until this point. There is still things that I want to fix and perfect on it, but in terms of content everything is there.
Here is the link to my portfolio > http://jo-online.vsb.bc.ca/blogs/student/avkumar/grade-10 Today was the highly anticipated and highly awaited IDS EXPO. I think it was a very well ran event and I think we should definitely do it again. Down below are a list of things I did well and things I should do to improve my station next time.
THINGS THAT WENT WELL - Lots of people came to my station - People were impressed with my video and they really liked what they saw - They were interested with my project and were considering having me do graphics for them THINGS THAT I COULD IMPROVE - I should of had business cards at my station. That would have been really professional and cool. - My station was right in the light which made it hard for people to see video because of the glare This is a video I had playing at my station at the IDS EXPO. The purpose of this video is to show people the techniques and marketing skills I learned during the duration of my IDS project. Here are the steps I took to branding myself online and some helpful tips. Step 1 - Create a logo and portfolio Step 2 - Starting making templates that people want. Step 3 - Use Twitter, Youtube and other social media to promote your products Step 4 - Send emails to previous clients to they remember you. Ask them if they want anymore projects done for them. Step 5 - Know your target audience. Are you selling to gamers or businesses? Step 6 - Tell your family and friends about your products so more people become aware and they can recommend you TIP - Apply discounts to your products for increased customer acquisition and increased customer loyalty. TIP - Sell items in bundles for more sales This is a logo and thumbnail design I made more a client that goes by the name "DJ Prodigy." I am so happy with the outcome of this logo because it looks clean, sleek and above all professional. Some people even told me this logo looks better than most DJ logos out there. I think this is one of the best works I have ever done ever since I started using Adobe Photoshop. The client wanted some things changed to the logo so I made two other versions of the same logo. Down below are the two other versions I created upon request.
This is a Youtube intro I made for my good friend that goes by the name "Proxy Kicks". He really liked the first intro I made, but wanted me to make it more simple so I created a second one with a more simple theme. Overall, I am very happy with this intro because now some of his viewers want graphics and intros from me. This means my plan worked. I did work for other people and because of that my work got to reach a different audience. Today I created my online store on Sellfy. I uploaded two templates, but made it free so more people click on my page. I chose Sellfy because it is well known, easy to use and has lots of users. The two templates I made cater to Gaming Youtubers. The first template I made was a Youtube thumbnail template and the second template was a Youtube banner template. I created these templates because I know that lots of people are looking for them. This is what people see when they open the template:
Today I accomplished my first step of my June IDS. I created my online portfolio with all my best work that I have done at school or things I have previously done for clients. I will direct my potential clients to this portfolio so they get a better idea for the kind of work I create and if my style caters to what they are looking for. I, also, went by the name "Fusion" on the internet because I didn't want to use my real name. Fusion Portfolio > http://woahfusion.weebly.com Here are a some screenshots of my portfolio. Today, Tyson taught us how to use AudioSauna and make music. I have never made aa song before so this was quite cool. I made a simple beat on an online program called AudioSauna however it didn't save properly and now the file is lost. I, however, ended making a much better beat later.

This is an app I created using Appy Pie. I definitely liked this program better than Andromo because you can actually see what your app looks like so far. Also, it was easier and much simpler to access things to put into your app. I call the app I made iEverday because it includes all the things that I use on a daily basis. This includes things like Google, Youtube, Twitter, Global News and Khan Academy. Down below is my icon for my app. It includes my own personal logo. After creating this app I am more interested in app making and app developing. For my next IDS I am now thinking about creating an app using a coding language like CSS+ or Java Script. Here is the link to the website version of my app: snappy.appypie.com/html5/ieveryday--avniel Today I created my first ever app! I used an online program called Andromo. I will be making a better version of it on Appy Pie because the features on Adromo were quite limited and I couldn't see what my app looked like as I was building it. The app that I made includes a widget screen for all the things I use on a regular basis. Since this was my first app it wasn't the best, but I am still quite proud of it. The icon for my app is below.
Today I finally got my cast off and it was one of the best things ever. I was kind of grossed out when I saw my hand though because it was hairy, skinny and there were weird bumps at some places. Gross right. The doctor, however, said that I won't be able to properly use it until another 8 weeks which sucks. Down below are x-rays of my recovered wrist. Today we had our IDS expo and, in my opinion, it went very well because it was run very smoothly. I had to leave early, however, because I had an appointment at the clinic.
THINGS THAT WENT WELL - I had a very good presentation that people enjoyed watching. - People were interested with my topic. THINGS THAT I COULD HAVE IMPROVED ON - I wanted to make a poster board, but I only had one arm to work with - If we have another expo, I am going to bring my own monitor from home so my booth looks a bit better. During the last week, I rendered all the gifs and added a loop to them. When I had exported all the animations I imported all of them into Final Cut Pro so I could make a video to showcase my work.
For the third week, I just spent time adjusting the keyframes and making the animation look smoother. This was probably the easiest week because I was just polishing things up. To make the animation smoother, I used the graph editor which lets you adjust the speed at which your pictures or objects appear. Down below is a picture of me using the graph editor.
During week 2, I animated all the gifs in After Effects. Overall, I am happy with how this project is going so far because my animations are starting to look very good.
After week one, I have learned the basics of making gifs. The theme I will go going for will be minimalistic and flat design because they are really simple and will go well with my gifs. Down below is a screenshot of me starting to make my first gif.
MY OBJECTIVE: My goal is to learn how to create minimalistic gifs in After Effects over the course of four weeks. I will be making five gifs and each will have its own theme and colour scheme. I chose this topic because in the future I want to be a graphic designer on the side and as a graphic designer I want to do branding for companies and people. This includes posters, logos, gifs, website designs, GUIs, rebrands, infographics and promos. TIMELINE: Week 1 I will start by brainstorming my ideas and deciding on the colours and theme of all the gifs. Week 2 Start to animate all the gifs in After Effects. Week 3 Finalize and polish all the gifs. This includes readjusting the keyframes and messing around with the graph editor. Week 4 I will render all the gifs and will put them all together in a video. |
